Market Overview

Learn about our disruptive market strategy, from entry to expansion.

Target Markets

DermaVision Technologies is primarily focused on introducing DermaSpect to the forensic and medical imaging markets. DermaSpect solves the issues of accuracy and equitability in bruise assessment by bringing a portable, easy-to-use imaging and documentation tool directly into the hands of first responders, such as EMTs and law enforcement, who are often on the scene and interacting with abuse victims. Our initial customer base will be focused in Southern California, targeting police departments, trauma centers, and emergency rooms. We plan to capture our SOM within 3 years by the department's technologies acquisition committees through showcase events and working with advocacy groups. Further down the line, DermaSpect can expand to additional medical use cases beyond bruise imaging, as multispectral imaging can be applied to other diagnostics. DermaSpect provides value by aiding the identification and diagnosis of various skin conditions, such as Lupus and Raynaud’s syndrome.

Market Strategy

The DermaSpect will be priced at $6,000 a unit, with a $15 per month per unit subscription for software and training support. Units will be directly sold to first responders via the police department and hospitals, first focusing in Southern California. We will leverage existing relationships from previous customer discovery and current IRB-approved trial to gather feedback from on-the-field use.

Additionally, we plan to offer rentals and imaging services and consultations for attorneys and shelters who are serving personal injury or abuse cases. Customers would have to purchase a pay-per-use service in which DermaVision Technologies will provide expert witness services and forensic reporting services, starting at $250 per hour and increasing depending on the complexity of the case in question.

Competitor Analysis

DermaSpect will compete against the current standards in forensic and medical imaging and provide completely unique features to revolutionize evidence collection of abuse. Standard DSLR cameras, used by law enforcement to collect evidence, provide no benefit over live visual bruise assessment and are simple documentation tools. Products that utilize similar color-specific technology, such as the Crime-Lite AUTO, do not create any new information, leaving bruise age again up to a subjective, inaccurate guess. The DermaSpect is an invaluable tool that combines evidence collection and analysis into a single package, staying within the price range of widely adopted cameras and at a fraction of the cost of other multispectral tools.

Regulatory Compliance

DermaSpect poses minimal risk and can be classified as a Class II device by the FDA, similar to previous multispectral diagnostic imaging devices. We will pursue the 510(k) pathway after filing a provisional patent application for our minimum viable product. Our device is compliant with the following standards.

Standards
ISO 12052: Health informatics - Digital imaging and communications in medicine
ISO 10993: Biological evaluation of medical devices
ISO 14971: Medical devices - Application of risk management to medical devices
IEC 60601-1: Medical electrical equipment
IEC 62471: Photobiological safety
